Recent Additional Phishing Emails

April 22, 2008

Last evening (Monday, April 21), NACS was made aware of additional "phishing" email messages where attempts to gain credentials are done by asking you to send your information in an email reply. (For information about "phishing" email, please see http://security.uci.edu/email/phishing.php).

This particular email message appeared to be from the email address onlineservices@uci.edu.

These messages are not valid, please do not respond! We have taken steps to attempt to block any replies, but it is best if the response is not sent at all in case they respond by changing mail servers.

If you received this email and sent your credentials as asked, you must change your password here, ASAP:

http://activate.uci.edu

by clicking on the link for "Change my existing password".

Remember that no UCI-affiliated organization will ever ask you to send your credentials in an email as a "reply-to".

One of the most recent messages is below for your information, but without any web-based formatting.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the NACS Help Desk at (949) 824-2222 or nacs@uci.edu
